When it comes to fitness you’ve got to find your groove, discover what you love. There are so many options out there these days that are worth exploring.
For many people it is easy while they are in high school or college because they participate in organized sports. When you do that your workouts are dictated for you, there is no planning and you just do it. When those days are over it is a whole different game.
If you are just starting a new fitness journey, trying to break through a rut or simply looking to mix up your routine think about trying some of these options.
1. Hiking – Obviously this is easier when the weather is nice but it is still an option when it’s not! Grab the dog or a couple friends and head out. Pack a picnic or take the camera and just explore. You will get a great workout while chatting it up with with friends and building your photo collection!
2. Classes & Programs – As you may know, I am not the biggest fan of classes. For many though classes are a great way to get a structured workout without having to do any planning aside from showing up on time. Classes are also a great way to break through a rut, if you are bored with your typical routine and just need to be reminded why you loved lifting/running/whatever in the first place, jump in a class and find some motivation. There are often deals on Groupon and LivingSocial for a vareity of things like kickboxing, yoga, crossfit, bootcamps, cycling and more! Check out the deals and give something new a try…you just might love it!
3. Walking the dog – Why not take your furry friend out for some fresh air and a change of scenery?! Ask your friend or significant other for some quality time together away from the TV and your phone. It’s a win-win-win!
4. DVD Workouts – There are dozens of at home workout DVDs on the market. If you can’t spend money on a gym membership you can still get in great shape. Best thing about a DVD is that you can do them anytime at all, all year round! Below are a couple that I highly recommend…
